Our commitment to the environment
At Terrace Edge we are well aware that our ultimate destiny lies in the land we love. We have a deep respect for the land and believe very strongly in sustainable viticulture. We predominately use natural methods to combat pests and diseases, rather than the unnecessary use of chemical pesticides. For example, we grow an inter-row crop containing many different species to provide a habitat for beneficial insects. This companion planting reduces the incidence of unwanted pests by keeping the system in a natural balance.

We are also committed to the "Greening Waipara" project, which aims to increase biological diversity around the vineyard by restoring some of the vegetation which is native to the region but which has become rare or has disappeared. The 'Greening' programme is a partnership between Waipara Valley Winegrowers Association, Lincoln University and Landcare Research and is supported by the Foundation for Research, Science and Technology.
Our 2000 tree olive grove, other fruit trees, and vegetable garden are also an important part of the system and add to the bio-diversity.
